The Woman Who Changed My Future—One Word at a Time

I’m often told that I speak well, that I enunciate my words. I smile and say thank you, but in my heart, I remember the teacher who selflessly polished my voice.

At just five years old, my teacher noticed that I wasn’t pronouncing my words well. So what did she do? She kept me after school—every day, free of charge—working with me until my speech was polished.

Because of her, I went on to skip the fifth grade.
Because of her, I speak with confidence today.
